[Saba Sports News] With Klay Thompson now in Dallas, another member of the Golden State Warriors’ Big Three might also be nearing the end of his tenure.
Warriors star Draymond Green revealed on the “Club 520 Podcast” that he will likely retire after two more seasons.
“I’m on the wrong side of my downslide, like I’m headed into year 13,” said Green. “I probably got two more [seasons]. So it’s important to start building for the next thing.”
Green, now 34, averaged 8.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game last season. He is under contract for two more guaranteed seasons with a player option for 2026-27, making the two-year timeline logical.
Despite his basketball IQ, Green’s physical decline will make it challenging to compete with younger, faster players, especially since he has never been known for speed, athleticism, or three-point shooting (though he hit a career-high 39.5 percent of his triples last year).
The Warriors, who missed the playoffs last season, are facing the end of an era. With Thompson signing with the Mavericks, Green hinting at retirement, and Stephen Curry expressing uncertainty about his future in Golden State, big changes are on the horizon.
