[Saba Sports News] On Sunday, the Miami Heat unveiled a statue of franchise legend Dwyane Wade outside Kaseya Center.
Though meant as a high honor, fans were quick to note that the eight-foot statue doesn’t quite resemble Wade—many even thought it looked more like actor Laurence Fishburne. Wade’s initial reaction, “Who is that guy?” quickly went viral, capturing his surprise.
Later, Wade praised the statue in his press conference, calling it “one of the best statues that’s been created” because of its personal meaning. The statue’s pose immortalizes Wade’s famous game-winning three-pointer against the Chicago Bulls in 2009, where he declared, “This is my house!”
Created by artists Omri Amrany and Oscar Leon from Timeless Creations, the statue includes nods to Wade’s roots, with easter eggs like his parents’ names, his childhood addresses in Chicago, and even gum in his mouth.
The statue joins other Miami honors for Wade, including Dwyane Wade Boulevard, designated by Miami-Dade County in 2021. Wade’s legacy is firmly etched in Miami’s streets—and now, in bronze.
