[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Eden Hazard has shifted his focus from showcasing his football skills to investing in tech start-ups. The Chelsea legend is backing an emerging enterprise hailed as the “Facebook of the sports industry”. The Belgian midfielder displayed exquisite talent during his seven-year spell at Stamford Bridge, winning the Premier League title twice as well as the Europa League. Hazard scored 110 goals in 352 appearances and also claimed the FA Cup and the EFL Cup before joining Real Madrid in 2019. After an injury-plagued spell at the Bernabéu, he retired from professional football in 2023 and has kept a low profile ever since. Now at the age of 35, Hazard has become an investor and brand ambassador for the Belgian online platform Opportunity Players. The platform offers athletes across all sports the chance to connect with clubs, and is also open to agents, coaches, physiotherapists and nutritionists.
The editor believes that the platform currently has 40,000 users and aims to reach one million users next year after expanding into the Chinese, South American and North African markets. Belgian media have hailed it as the LinkedIn or Facebook of the sports world. Besides this investment, Eden Hazard also runs a wine business, and has taken part in numerous charity matches and major cycling events since retiring from professional football.
