[Saba Sports News] According to Spanish media reports, on Tuesday of this week local time, a group of environmental activists called Futuro Vegetal vandalized the exterior walls of Lionel Messi’s luxury home in Ibiza with colored spray paint, claiming that Messi’s residence is an illegal structure. The organization acknowledged the action in a statement, stating that they wanted to condemn “the responsibility of the wealthy in the climate crisis.” These individuals broke into Messi’s home and splattered red and black paint on the house. Additionally, they placed banners in front of Messi’s pool and soccer field, with some even seen posing next to the pillars at the entrance of the football field.
It is worth noting that this extremist organization also vandalized the headquarters of major political parties and banks in Spain last year, and attacked the Pacha nightclub in Ibiza. In their statement, the organization claimed that Messi’s luxury home is an “illegal construction,” emphasizing that Messi purchased the building at a “high price of 11 million euros.” Currently, the organization’s social media accounts have reposted dozens of media reports on the incident. The cleanup costs for Messi’s home after the vandalism are likely to amount to thousands of dollars.
