[Saba Sports News] According to reports from British media, Chelsea captain Enzo Fernandez may not face punishment for a previous racism incident. This summer, Enzo stirred controversy after the Argentina team’s Copa America victory, when he and his teammates sang racist songs on the team bus. The French Football Federation lodged a complaint with FIFA regarding this matter, and the anti-discrimination organization Kick It Out also initiated an investigation. In July, FIFA stated it was investigating the racism incident involving Enzo, but has since referred the case to CONMEBOL. However, when asked, CONMEBOL did not respond regarding the outcome of the investigation. According to earlier reports, Enzo apologized during a team meeting after the incident, and the club decided not to impose any disciplinary action against him. Subsequently, Chelsea appointed Enzo as the team captain. Since the incident occurred during the Copa America, the FA does not have jurisdiction over it. In response, a spokesperson for Kick It Out confirmed they have not yet received the results of the investigation and emphasized that, given the importance of accountability, they will closely monitor the situation moving forward.
