[Saba Sports News] Duncan Ferguson, a notorious figure known for his fiery temperament, recently shared his experience of spending time in prison during an interview with the media. He described how he was “brought back to reality” after serving time in jail and how he became extremely anxious and trembled while imprisoned. Ferguson, who played over 250 games in the Premier League, earned a reputation as a tough player due to his penchant for fighting. However, in 1994, Ferguson went too far when he headbutted Jock Maxter from Raith Rovers while playing for Rangers, resulting in a 12-match ban and three months in prison, making him the first British footballer to be jailed for on-field misconduct. Ferguson revealed that his time in prison brought him back down to earth. At the age of 23, he expressed concerns about his safety due to his high-profile status at Rangers and his youth. He stated, “It felt like everyone was targeting me. You’re absolutely terrified. The next morning, you have to face it all. I didn’t sleep all night. I was terrified. The next morning, I had to walk out of my cell thinking someone might stab me.”
