[Saba Sports News] Previous reports suggested that F1 was considering introducing a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine for the 2029 or 2030 season, a proposal that sparked much discussion. However, during a recent Power Unit manufacturers’ meeting, F1 clarified the matter, confirming that the current 1.6-liter V6 hybrid turbo power unit architecture will be retained until at least the end of the 2030 season. F1 officials believe that in the context of increasingly strict global environmental requirements, sticking with the V6 hybrid cycle aligns with sustainable development goals and helps F1 project an eco-friendly image, enhancing its public acceptance. Therefore, no changes are expected in the short term. We believe that for manufacturers who have invested heavily in V6 hybrid technology, committing to this formula for another five years allows them more time to recoup their R&D investments. Stable engine regulations also benefit sponsors in formulating long-term sponsorship plans, providing more stable financial support for the sport.
