[Saba Sports News] Mexican F1 driver Sergio Perez renewed his contract with the Red Bull Racing earlier this year, but due to poor performance, rumors have circulated that he might leave the team. Several drivers are considered potential replacements, including rookie Franco Colapinto, who made a strong impression as a driver for Williams mid-season. In this regard, F1 legend Juan Pablo Montoya suggested during an interview with Colombian radio station W that Red Bull should immediately part ways with Perez. Montoya stated that if he were the director of Red Bull, he would negotiate with Williams to convince them to retain Colapinto next year and let go of Carlos Sainz, who was signed from Ferrari earlier this year. Montoya further explained his point of view, stating that Williams has limited R&D capabilities, making it difficult to provide a competitive car, win races, or reach the podium; thus, Sainz’s time there would be a waste of time and talent. Some fans countered that Perez brings over $30 million in sponsorship income to Red Bull; additionally, he has contributed to ticket sales for the Americas circuit. Faced with these interests, Red Bull is likely to keep Perez on the team.
