[Saba Sports News] In a match last Saturday where Union Berlin drew 1-1 with Bochum, Bochum goalkeeper Patrick Drewes was hit by a lighter thrown from the stands of Union Berlin fans. The player had to receive medical treatment and was taken to the locker room, leading to a nearly 30-minute suspension of the match. Bochum has filed a protest with the German Football Association regarding the match result. Recently, Union Berlin officially confirmed that they would impose a stadium ban on the fan who threw the lighter. The club stated, “We responded very quickly to this matter, we have been able to identify the perpetrator and have handed them over to the police. The case has been filed, and we have imposed the longest possible national stadium ban on this individual. There are currently two cases under investigation. There is nothing more to be done at this time.” As for Bochum’s protest regarding the match result and other disciplinary decisions, the German Football Association has announced that the sports court hopes to decide on further actions after evaluating all statements from the relevant parties.
