[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana has been convicted for illegal driving for the ninth time, earning him the nickname “the worst driver in the Premier League.” Reports state that Fofana was photographed attending a hearing at Staines Magistrates’ Court last Friday, leaving with a slight smile on his face. It is reported that Fofana was ordered in court to complete 300 hours of unpaid community service, pay only £85 in prosecution costs, and a £114 victim surcharge. Dashcam footage played during the hearing showed Fofana driving a white SUV, overtaking at high speed from the hard shoulder, and then weaving through traffic. District Judge Julie Cooper severely criticized Fofana’s behavior, admonishing him: “You know there are many young people who admire you, they want to be like you and follow you. That is part and parcel of the whole career. However, they cannot afford these expensive cars and all the various additions that are put on them for safety, and you might get some youngster who has just passed their test who thinks they can emulate you. They are not able to control the vehicle well and they are likely to kill themselves doing something silly. You must be more responsible for your actions.” Fofana was banned from driving for 18 months, but his previous ban was already set to last until May 2027. After the driving ban expires, Fofana will need to pass an extended driving test before he can drive again. Until then, if Fofana drives again, he could face prison time.
