[Saba Sports News] Recently, Ford CEO Jim Farley stated that Ford’s respect for Max Verstappen has deepened through its collaboration with Red Bull’s power unit project. Ford will partner with the Milton Keynes-based team on its power unit project starting in 2026, bringing them closer to the Dutch driver. Regarding this, Jim Farley said, “This is one of the most critical pillars or foundations for the success of the power unit project. Through conversations with Max, I feel Ford’s respect for Verstappen has significantly increased this year. We’ve been closely observing him.” He added, “In an environment where we are all striving to do our jobs well, he provides stability without any drama. I saw this in his eyes today, which was different from last year. I think this is also one of the greatest strengths of Laurent Mekies and his team. They share a deep commitment to each other.” Red Bull Team Principal Laurent Mekies also highlighted Verstappen’s efforts behind the scenes: Verstappen does far more than just request data; he contributes immensely to the project beyond the car. He tests in the simulator, collaborates with engineers on both sides to understand how to develop the 2026 car, and discusses where to gain power and downforce. This is his central role in the project.
