[Saba Sports News] After a long career in Formula 1, former Haas team principal Guenther Steiner is switching from four wheels to two, entering the world of motorcycle racing – he will lead the consortium acquiring the Red Bull KTM Tech3 MotoGP team. This marks a full return to a management role for Steiner. After being replaced as team principal by Ayao Komatsu before the 2024 season, Steiner has been working as a pundit and commentator for several F1 broadcasters and as an ambassador for the Miami Grand Prix, but he will soon take up the role of CEO of the Red Bull KTM Tech3 team. Steiner will partner with touring car veteran and sports management expert Richard Coleman, who will take over from founder Hervé Poncharal as team principal. The new structure will take full effect in 2026. Steiner began his motorsport career as a rally engineer in the 1980s before moving up to management and later transitioning to F1. Steiner said: “This is a great opportunity. The Tech3 team is strong, has great potential, and a glorious history. Hervé‘s impact on the team and MotoGP itself is immeasurable, and we are honoured to take over and build on these foundations. We are excited to be part of the MotoGP paddock and, as the sport continues to grow, we will fully exploit the potential of the team and the sport to help attract new audiences.”
