[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, the cause of death of former Liverpool Women’s manager Matt Beard has been confirmed. He was found deceased at his home by suicide. It is reported that medical personnel were dispatched to his residence in Deeside, Flintshire, and subsequently transported him to the hospital. Beard passed away at the Countess of Chester Hospital at 9:15 PM on Saturday, September 20, at the age of 47. The coroner’s office was informed that Beard had suffered “devastating brain injuries” due to suicide. During his 17-year coaching career in women’s football, Beard led Liverpool Women’s team twice, winning back-to-back league titles in 2013 and 2014. His most recent coaching role was with Burnley Women’s team, but he resigned after just two months. Following the news of his passing, an outpouring of condolences and tributes emerged from various quarters. His brother, Mark, described him as “the most outstanding and caring person, deeply loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him.” Premier League and Women’s Super League clubs have paid tribute to Beard in recent matches. During last week’s match against Sunderland Women, Liverpool Women’s team collectively sang “Matt Beard’s Red Army” in the 13th and 14 minutes as a tribute. A banner in the stands read: “Liverpool lives for Matt, Matt lives for Liverpool.”
