[Saba Sports News] Recently, former Manchester United youth player Channy Ekongamené spoke to the media about his life 11 years after leaving Old Trafford. The 31-year-old Ekongamené helped Manchester United win the club’s first U21 Premier League title in the 2012/13 season. He joined Manchester United from his hometown club Royal Antwerp when he was 16. In 2014, he was loaned to Carlisle United, where he made his professional debut in a League One match against Bristol City.
Later that year, the Belgian midfielder decided to leave Old Trafford and returned to his home country to join Westerlo FC, signing a four-year contract. In 2023, Ekongamené joined Berchem Sport, a team in the Belgian fourth division. Since the club is semi-professional, Ekongamené has another job. He has been working as a postman for Belgium Post since 2021 and stated, “The schedule is suitable for me. I start work in the morning and can even take a break before training. I’ve been a postman for almost four years now; I used to deliver mail on a bicycle, but now I use a van. At least I can stay dry, and I have to deliver a lot of mail in apartment buildings, so I still get to stay active!”
