[Saba Sports News] Genoa Football Club officially announced that Patrick Vieira will no longer serve as the first-team head coach. This season, Genoa recorded 3 draws and 6 losses in their first 9 league matches without a win, currently sitting bottom of the Serie A table. Genoa stated in their announcement: “The club sincerely thanks the coach and his staff for their dedication and professionalism during their tenure and wishes them all the best in their future careers.” The interim first-team coaching duties will be assumed by Roberto Murgita, with Domenico Criscito serving as assistant coach. Since taking over the team on November 20 last year, Vieira’s record stands at 10 wins, 12 draws, and 15 losses, a win rate of only 27%. Vieira, now 49, played for AC Milan, Arsenal, Juventus, Inter Milan, and Manchester City during his playing career and made 107 appearances for the French national team. He won multiple championship honors including the Premier League, Serie A, the World Cup, and the European Championship. After retiring, Vieira served as Football Development Executive in Manchester City’s youth system from 2011 to 2015, later managing New York City, Nice, Crystal Palace, and Strasbourg.
