[Saba Sports News] A 2021 NBA champion is learning from a 2024 NBA champion.
In a recent feature, Ramona Shelburne of ESPN reported that renowned NBA skills trainer Drew Hanlen, known for working with Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum, has been in Greece training a new client. Although Shelburne didn’t specify names, she implied that Hanlen’s new client is Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.
This was confirmed by Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, who reported that Hanlen joined several Bucks players on their offseason trip to Athens. Antetokounmpo, MarJon Beauchamp, Andre Jackson Jr., and Chris Livingston trained there with Hanlen.
Hanlen, a former Belmont University player, is one of the most well-known trainers in the NBA, praised for his shooting coaching skills. He has worked with multiple NBA All-Stars, including Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Tyrese Haliburton.
While Hanlen hasn’t achieved results with every client, his overall success rate is high. He could significantly help Antetokounmpo, a career 28.6 percent three-point shooter who dropped to 27.4 percent this season.
