[Saba Sports News] Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo was pleasantly surprised on Tuesday night with an unexpected bonus following his team’s victory over the New York Knicks. In the NBA In-Season Tournament quarterfinals at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, the Bucks convincingly defeated the Knicks 146-122, securing a place in the semifinals against the Indiana Pacers in Las Vegas.
While it’s common knowledge that the winning team’s players each receive $500,000 in the inaugural tournament, Antetokounmpo was unaware that reaching the semifinals also came with a $100,000 reward for each player. His reaction to this news was captured post-game by TNT reporter Jared Greenberg.
“Are we getting money now? We’ve got some money? Hey, the rich get richer,” said Antetokounmpo.
Upon learning about the prize, Antetokounmpo expressed surprise and delight, jokingly commenting on the financial gain. He even shared a photo of the interview on social media, captioning it “Viva Las Vegas.”
Despite signing a massive contract extension with the Bucks in October, Antetokounmpo seemed genuinely excited about the additional $100,000. His outstanding performance against the Knicks, scoring 35 points with 8 rebounds, 10 assists, and 3 steals, made him a standout candidate for the prize.
