[Saba Sports News] Greg Oden is making a career change.
The former No. 1 NBA draft pick announced that he is stepping down as an assistant coach at Butler University after two seasons, though he didn’t disclose his next move.
Oden, 36, was the top pick in the 2007 NBA Draft but had his career derailed by knee injuries, limiting him to just 105 NBA games.
After retiring in 2016, Oden returned to Ohio State to finish his degree and gain coaching experience.
He later joined Butler’s staff in 2022, reuniting with his former college coach Thad Matta. Now, Oden is ready for a new chapter, while Butler seeks a replacement.
