[Saba Sports News] The Memphis Grizzlies are facing a challenging period with a series of unfortunate injuries. Shams Charania from The Athletic has reported that Grizzlies guard Marcus Smart is the latest to suffer a significant setback, with a severe right ring finger injury that will keep him out for about six weeks.
Smart, known for his defensive prowess as a former Defensive Player of the Year, apparently injured his finger during a recent victory against the Dallas Mavericks. Footage showing Smart making a three-pointer and then seeking immediate medical assistance for what appeared to be a dislocated finger has been circulating online.
This injury update comes shortly after the revelation that Ja Morant, another key Grizzlies guard, will miss the rest of the season due to a major shoulder injury. This was after he had only played nine games following his suspension. Additionally, Grizzlies veterans Derrick Rose, Steven Adams, and Brandon Clarke are also sidelined with injuries.
Compounding these issues, Smart was already dealing with an injury to his other hand and is now likely to be out until March. With the Grizzlies currently holding a 14-23 record and trailing in the race for a play-in spot, their season appears increasingly bleak.
