[Saba Sports News] During the recent F1 Brazilian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton and Oscar Piastri were involved in an incident. In addition to the time penalties imposed during the race, both drivers received penalty points on their super licenses. This is Hamilton’s third penalty point in the past 12 months. The editorial believes that, from the perspective of maintaining rule fairness, whether it was Hamilton exceeding track limits or Piastri violating regulations while overtaking on the inside of a corner and causing a collision, the race stewards’ penalties ensured all drivers compete under the same regulatory framework. For instance, Hamilton was penalized at the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix for repeatedly exceeding track limits during defense. The FIA stated that while it understood his brake issues, it must uphold the consistency of the rules and avoid setting a precedent for “exemptions due to technical problems.” Such strict enforcement helps maintain a fair competitive environment, ensuring race results better reflect the drivers’ true abilities.
