[Saba Sports News] The sudden departure of former Red Bull team principal Christian Horner surprised many. Recently, Lewis Hamilton, a Ferrari driver, said in an interview that he had expected Horner to leave, it was just a matter of time. Hamilton said, “Other than race weekends and team matters, I don’t pay much attention to F1, so I wasn’t surprised or shocked by Horner’s resignation.” He also pointed out that Horner’s departure means Red Bull will inevitably undergo structural changes. Every leader has their own ideas, and changing coaches always brings changes, which is expected. Hamilton and Horner have had a long-standing feud. In 2005, Hamilton had a difficult conversation with Horner when seeking a seat in a Red Bull-affiliated team. Then, in the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Hamilton was overtaken by Max Verstappen at the last moment, losing his eighth championship. Horner, as Red Bull’s team principal, had intense conflicts with Mercedes, the team Hamilton was part of, and the two sides eventually broke completely. So, from a personal and historical perspective, Hamilton remains attentive to Horner’s situation at Red Bull, and his lack of surprise at Horner’s departure is partly due to their long-term complex relationship and some issues that had already emerged within Red Bull earlier.
