[Saba Sports News] According to Italian media reports, Lewis Hamilton’s contract includes an optional third-year extension, and the decision lies with the 40-year-old driver, not Ferrari. The report states that the seven-time world champion’s contract is believed to run until the end of 2026, with an option for a third year. This means that since Hamilton can decide whether to compete for the Italian team in 2027, Ferrari has little control over its short-term driver lineup. The reason for this contract structure is that Hamilton brings significant commercial value to Ferrari, as the seven-time champion has increased the manufacturer’s global visibility. Media also noted that “Ferrari will follow him regardless,” despite Hamilton’s difficult start at the team. Notably, in the first 14 races, excluding sprint races, Hamilton has failed to reach the podium, while his teammate Charles Leclerc has reached the podium five times this season.
