[Saba Sports News] The Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) is exploring the possibility of using the newly built Mullanpur Stadium as the home ground for Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the upcoming IPL 2024 season. The PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali has been the traditional home for PBKS in the league.
PCA Secretary Dilsher Khanna mentioned in a media interaction that IPL franchise officials have examined the Mullanpur Stadium, which is likely to host PBKS’ matches. Initially, there were plans for a T20I match between India and Afghanistan at Mullanpur in January, but due to some unfinished work, the match was held in Mohali instead.
The PCA’s official account recently shared a video highlighting the Mullanpur Stadium’s progress, featuring a tour led by Dilsher Khanna. The video emphasizes the stadium’s playing area, grandstands, and facilities for players and spectators, indicating readiness for IPL 2024.
The post announced, “PCA New Cricket Stadium will be ready soon for IPL 2024.” The Mullanpur Stadium can accommodate around 30,000 spectators and has parking for about 1800 cars. It features 12 pitches in the center and a net session area near gate number one. Additionally, the stadium includes large dressing rooms with amenities like sauna baths, a buffet area, showers, and a massage area.
