[Saba Sports News] The Malaysian Badminton Association has just announced a major news, stating that Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin will join the national team’s singles coaching staff on October 1, 2025, as the head coach for the women’s singles. The announcement immediately attracted attention from the outside world. Iskandar has rich coaching experience. As a former Malaysian men’s badminton player, he has extensive experience in major competitions. He once represented Malaysia in events such as the World Junior Badminton Championships and the Asian Games, achieving good results, including winning the runner-up in the mixed team category at the World Junior Badminton Championships and a bronze medal in the men’s team event at the Asian Games. In September 2021, Iskandar was invited to become a coach for the Irish national team, and in March 2022, he officially retired and dedicated himself to coaching, gaining some international coaching experience. This experience can bring different training methods and concepts, introducing new technical ideas and tactical systems for Malaysian women’s singles players, which can help improve their competitive level. The editor believes that his return to the Malaysian Badminton Association may bring new development opportunities for Malaysia’s women’s badminton through the diverse training system and high-level competition environment he accumulated in Europe.
