[Saba Sports News] New York Knicks standout Jalen Brunson sustained a serious injury during Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Indiana Pacers. Brunson exited the game in the third quarter after injuring his hand. The Knicks promptly declared that their point guard had fractured his left hand, ruling him out for the remainder of the game.
This injury occurred at a particularly critical moment, as Brunson had been having an MVP-caliber season and was instrumental in the Knicks’ playoff campaign. He entered Sunday’s matchup averaging 33.7 points and 7.3 assists throughout the postseason, with five 40-point games in the Knicks’ previous 12 playoff appearances before facing the Pacers.
At the time of Brunson’s departure, the Knicks were significantly behind, although they had managed to keep the deficit to within 15 points by halftime, despite Indiana’s exceptional shooting in the first half.
There had been earlier rumors during the series of a potential hand injury for Brunson, but the Knicks had dismissed these claims.
