[Saba Sports News] Denver Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray hit one of the toughest shots of the 2024 NBA playoffs on Sunday. His incredible buzzer-beater led to one of the most memorable photos of the year.
The Nuggets led the Timberwolves 59-49 with just seconds left in the first half of Game 4 of their Western Conference semifinal matchup at Target Center in Minneapolis. Michael Porter Jr.’s dunk extended the lead to 61-49 with 1.6 seconds left in the second quarter.
Timberwolves guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker tried to get one more attempt for his team by hurling an inbound pass past the half-court line, but Murray intercepted it.
Murray then heaved a desperation shot from three-quarters of the court, which miraculously swished through the net.
Murray was standing next to TNT announcer Kevin Harlan when the shot went in. He locked eyes with Harlan as the veteran broadcaster made the call on live television. The TNT broadcast brilliantly panned the camera to capture Murray and Harlan during this incredible moment.
Murray’s long-distance shot was crucial for Denver, not just for its difficulty. Moments earlier, the Timberwolves had reduced the Nuggets’ 16-point lead to seven with under a minute left. Murray’s shot capped an 8-0 run to end the half, and the Nuggets maintained their lead throughout the second half, winning 115-107.
Home teams are now 0-4 in the series as it heads back to Denver for Game 5.
