[Saba Sports News] Jason Kidd made an unexpected move after the Dallas Mavericks’ tough overtime loss to the Sacramento Kings on Monday night.
The Mavs, already shorthanded due to injuries, fell 129-128, with DeMar DeRozan sealing the win for Sacramento. But instead of addressing the media postgame, Kidd skipped his press conference—something longtime Mavs reporters couldn’t recall him ever doing.
While NBA coaches are typically expected to speak postgame, there’s no automatic penalty for missing media availability. According to Marc Stein, Kidd’s first-time violation likely means he won’t face a fine.
The Mavericks have been surrounded by drama ever since their shocking trade of Luka Doncic. Doncic, returning from injury, made his Lakers debut the same night, scoring 14 points in a blowout win over the Jazz.
Mavs fans remain furious over the trade, while Kidd has played it cool, sticking to his role. “I don’t wanna be the one buying the groceries, just give me the groceries and I’ll figure it out,” he said Saturday.
