[Saba Sports News] Jaylen Wells is facing multiple serious injuries following his hard fall during Tuesday night’s game.
The Memphis Grizzlies rookie was upended while attempting a dunk late in the second quarter against the Sacramento Kings and landed on his head, requiring a stretcher to leave the court. Initial reports on Wednesday confirmed Wells had suffered a broken wrist. By Friday, the team revealed he also sustained a concussion and facial laceration.
With just two games remaining in the regular season and the Grizzlies in a tight race for playoff seeding, Wells is expected to miss the rest of the season, regardless of how far Memphis advances in the postseason.
The second-round rookie had been a solid contributor, averaging 10.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. The Grizzlies entered Friday locked in a three-way tie for sixth place in the Western Conference.
