[Saba Sports News] Despite winning the NBA championship, Jayson Tatum still sees room to improve his game.
According to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, Tatum has been working this offseason to correct a mechanical issue with his jumper.
The issue, which first surfaced early last season, reappeared during the playoffs and the Olympics. Tatum has been addressing it with his longtime skills coach Drew Hanlen and physical therapist Nick Sang.
While Tatum shot a solid 47.1% from the field and 37.6% from three during the regular season, his shooting dipped significantly in the playoffs, falling to 42.7% overall and 28.3% from deep. Shelburne didn’t specify the exact issue, but Tatum’s unique shooting form, where he brings the ball by his waist before raising it over his head, could be part of the focus.
With Tatum’s extra work in the gym, the 26-year-old aims to elevate his game further, even after signing a historic five-year, $314 million supermax extension with the Celtics.
