[Saba Sports News] Jayson Tatum has signed the largest contract in NBA history, at least for now.
Tatum and the Boston Celtics agreed to a five-year, $314 million super-max contract, according to Shams Charania. The deal runs through the 2029-30 season. The high value is due to Tatum’s eligibility for 35% of the team’s salary cap, thanks to his consecutive All-NBA first team selections. Interestingly, the Celtics previously held the record for the richest deal, given to Jaylen Brown last year.
Tatum’s worth is evident, being an NBA champion and averaging 26.9 points and 8.1 rebounds per game last season. This new contract ensures he remains a cornerstone of the Celtics for years to come, maintaining their championship aspirations.
