[Saba Sports] Joel Embiid may be gearing up for a future as a hot-take artist.
The Philadelphia 76ers star sparked debate with a post on X about the Boston Celtics, who are up 3-0 on the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals. Embiid questioned whether the Milwaukee Bucks had handed the championship to the Celtics, tweeting, “Did the Bucks give them the championship?”
The Bucks were seen as the Celtics’ biggest threat in the East, with the star power and depth to challenge Boston. However, Milwaukee was eliminated in the first round by the Indiana Pacers, with Giannis Antetokounmpo missing the series due to injury and Damian Lillard also missing multiple games.
Some speculated that Embiid was referencing the Bucks trading guard Jrue Holiday, now a crucial starter for the Celtics. Milwaukee sent Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers as part of the Lillard blockbuster, and the Blazers then traded Holiday to the Celtics in a separate deal.
The Celtics have dominated this postseason, losing only two games and now on the verge of sweeping the NBA Finals.
But Embiid, who has faced his own humiliations at the hands of the Celtics, seems to believe the outcome might have been different if they had faced the Bucks in the playoffs.
