[Saba Sports News] Tensions ran high between Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant and head coach Mike Budenholzer during Tuesday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers.
With just over three minutes left in the first quarter at Footprint Center in Phoenix, the Clippers led 19-15 and called a timeout. As the teams headed to their benches, Durant and Budenholzer were seen in a heated exchange, seemingly arguing over a miscommunication on an offensive set.
Budenholzer attempted to grab Durant’s arm as he walked past, but Durant quickly yanked it away and turned back to fire a response at his coach.
The moment comes amid growing speculation about Durant’s future with the Suns. A recent report suggested that unless Phoenix makes a deep playoff run, Durant could be on his way out after the season.
With the Suns spiraling—having lost 11 of their last 14 games and sitting 3.5 games behind the 10th-seeded Dallas Mavericks—the chances of a deep postseason push look slim. While Phoenix’s outlook improved with the season-ending injury to Kyrie Irving, even a play-in berth might not be enough to prevent major offseason changes.
