A viral video shows him politely discouraging fans from touching his feet while taking selfies. Rahul, who played an outstanding innings of 101 in tough conditions during the first Test against South Africa in Centurion, has been out of the T20I scene since India’s loss at the T20 World Cup 2022 against England.
Despite his absence from recent T20Is and a modest performance in the T20 World Cup 2022, Rahul boasts an impressive T20I record, with 2,265 runs from 68 innings. In his absence, Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma will handle wicketkeeping duties in the series against Afghanistan, which is India’s last T20I fixture before the T20 World Cup 2024. The series will also see the return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to the T20I side, with matches scheduled for January 11 in Mohali, January 14 in Indore, and January 17 in Bengaluru.
