[Saba Sports News] The New York Knicks are reuniting with veteran forward Marcus Morris Sr., who played for the team briefly during the 2019-20 season under coach David Fizdale.
The Knicks announced Morris’ return on Sunday with an Exhibit 9 contract (a one-year, non-guaranteed deal). Now 35, Morris averaged an impressive 19.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game in his previous stint with New York before being traded to the LA Clippers.
Although his defense and rebounding have declined, Morris remains a reliable catch-and-shoot 3-point threat and mid-range scorer.
He’s also a seasoned playoff performer, recently dropping 25 points for the Cavaliers in the second round.
With the Knicks having traded significant depth to acquire Mikal Bridges in July, Morris’ return helps bolster their roster, along with another former teammate he’ll join in free agency.
