[Saba Sports News] Tom Thibodeau has led the New York Knicks to their most successful stretch in over a decade, earning him a well-deserved reward.
Thibodeau has agreed to a 3-year contract extension with the Knicks, extending through the 2027-2028 season, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The 66-year-old has been the Knicks’ head coach for four seasons, turning the team around immediately. Under his leadership, the Knicks have had three winning seasons and two playoff berths.
The Knicks have reached the Eastern Conference semifinals for two consecutive years, a feat they last achieved in 1999-2000. Thibodeau is known for his rigorous coaching style and strong defenses, with the Knicks ranking in the top 10 in both offensive and defensive efficiency last season.
The Knicks recently finished with a 50-32 record, securing the No. 2 seed in the East, their best regular-season record since the 2012-2013 season when they went 54-28.
