[Saba Sports News] The NBA imposed a $25,000 fine on the New York Knicks for not adhering to the league’s injury reporting regulations.
According to a statement released by the NBA on Monday, the fine was levied against the Knicks for their failure to properly report Mitchell Robinson’s availability for their March 27 game against the Toronto Raptors. Although Robinson was marked as “out” for the Raptors game on that date, he ended up participating, marking his first game action in over three months. Robinson, who has faced several injuries this season, had been sidelined due to an ankle injury sustained in December and had undergone surgery.
Initially, it seemed likely he would be out for the season, but he made a comeback on March 27 and has been working his way back to full fitness in preparation for the playoffs. This fine concerning Robinson’s status, coupled with recent revelations about Julius Randle, highlights ongoing challenges the Knicks face with injury disclosures.
This season, Robinson has contributed an average of 5.7 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. The Knicks are hopeful he will stay fit for the playoff run, especially since they will be missing Randle in their frontcourt lineup.
