[Saba Sports News] According to US media reports, an amusing incident took place during the New York Knicks’ championship parade. Though Knicks player Tyler Kolek is beloved by the team’s diehard New York fans, an episode from the parade showed he is not yet instantly recognizable to the general public. Kolek was out on the streets of Manhattan celebrating the title and interacting with fans when he was briefly stopped by New York police officers, who mistook him for an ordinary spectator that had climbed over barriers to rush into the restricted area. Kolek later posted about the incident on social media with a lighthearted and humorous attitude. One fan wrote, “Security almost tackled Tyler Kolek straight up, this is hilarious.” Kolek then shared the post and commented, “I’m actually on the team, man.”
The editor believes that it’s understandable if people who only started supporting the Knicks during the playoffs fail to recognize Kolek. He did not feature at all throughout this Finals series, with his last appearance coming in the fourth quarter of Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cavaliers. The 25-year-old guard has logged a total of just 53 minutes across all playoff games. Fortunately, the Knicks won several matchups by comfortable margins, which granted him more court time than he would normally receive.
