[Saba Sports News] Los Angeles Lakers fans might see one of their wishes come true next season. On “The Hoop Collective,” ESPN’s Brian Windhorst shared that the Lakers are expected to give more playing time to young wing Max Christie.
Windhorst noted, “Their big signing was Max Christie… They signed him with the intent to play him a lot… They’re going to play Christie.”
Christie, 21, has shown flashes of his 3-and-D potential in limited minutes over his two seasons, but last year he averaged just 14.1 minutes per game under then-coach Darvin Ham and didn’t play during the playoffs. However, with a new head coach, JJ Redick, and a four-year, $32 million extension, Christie is poised for a bigger role, especially with the departures of Spencer Dinwiddie and Taurean Prince. Injuries on the roster may also open up more opportunities for him.
