[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, despite having only one full season in the Belgian Pro League and no European experience, Manchester United’s new signing Senne Lammens delivered a standout performance last season, exceeding the number of saves, prevented goals, and penalty saves of most top goalkeepers. Although United initially signed Lammens as a prospect for the future, with Andre Onana’s transfer to Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig and Altay Bayindir’s poor form, Lammens might be promoted to the main squad sooner than expected. However, Bayındır will start in this weekend’s Manchester derby. In the 2023-24 season, Antwerp’s first-choice goalkeeper, Jean Butez, suffered a hand injury, giving Lammens an opportunity to become the team’s number one. He subsequently produced impressive stats: making 20 more saves than any other goalkeeper in Europe’s top 10 leagues, ranking second in prevented goals (18), with only five goalkeepers performing better. Furthermore, he saved 4 out of the 8 penalties he faced. Lammens revealed that he carries a notebook to record players’ dribbling, pressing, shooting, and penalty-taking habits.
