[Saba Sports News] In a heartwarming moment, LeBron James shared a photo of him and his son Bronny wearing No. 6 jerseys side by side. This proud father couldn’t be happier about it. Although Bronny previously wore No. 0 in high school, he switched to No. 6 at USC, possibly in homage to his father. He had also worn No. 6 during the McDonald’s All-American Game this year.
The exciting part is that Bronny can now earn money from his merchandise, thanks to the new NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) rules. He’s reportedly the highest NIL earner in the nation, making an estimated $7.2 million. It’s a positive change for college athletes finally getting paid for their hard work.
Bronny James faced a health scare with a cardiac arrest in July, but thankfully, he’s expected to make a full recovery and return to basketball. He’ll likely play for USC in the upcoming season.
On the other hand, LeBron James, who wore No. 6 for the past two seasons, will switch back to No. 23 in the upcoming season. He had personal reasons for choosing No. 6, such as Bronny’s birthdate and Bryce’s birth month.
However, now he’s changing it to honor Bill Russell, whose No. 6 was retired league-wide after his passing. LeBron has fond memories associated with No. 23, having won his last two titles with it, including the Lakers’ championship in 2020.
LeBron, at 38, continues to perform at a high level, and with the Lakers building a strong roster, he’s eager to pursue his fifth NBA title in the upcoming season.
