[Saba Sports News] Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James had a chance to seal a win with a potential game-winner Friday night but missed, as the Atlanta Hawks secured a 134-132 overtime victory at State Farm Arena.
Despite the sting of the loss, James still had reason to celebrate a historic personal milestone.
James delivered a stellar performance, shooting 14-of-25 from the field and finishing with 39 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds. While the triple-double was impressive, it was the 39 points that propelled the 39-year-old into uncharted territory.
Already the only NBA player to surpass 39,000 career points, James reached a new milestone by eclipsing 41,000 career points during the game.
This achievement further solidifies his legendary status, as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar remains a distant second with 38,387 points, and the closest active player, Kevin Durant, trails with 29,259 career points.
Though the feat is remarkable, James remained grounded after the game, focusing on the limited time he has left in his career.
“Just go out there and play the game the right way, compete at a high level, and leave it all on the floor every time,” James said via *Sports Illustrated.* “My time is very limited on how long I’ll play. I’m just happy to still be able to play the game that I love.”
If James stays healthy, he could surpass 42,000 career points by the season’s end, leaving fans wondering just how far he can push his incredible legacy.
