[Saba Sports News] LeBron James got the chance to link up with his favorite NFL player after the Los Angeles Lakers’ win over the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday at American Airlines Center.
The game was already a marquee event, with Luka Doncic making his return to Dallas. But the spotlight grew even brighter postgame when James revealed that Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry—who was in attendance—is his favorite player in the NFL.
“I’ve said over and over that King Henry is my favorite player in the National Football League,” James said.
The admiration was mutual. After the game, Henry met with James and paid him a major compliment, calling him the “GOAT.”
That’s high praise, especially considering that Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes was also in the building.
But the connection between James and Henry makes sense—they’re both dominant physical forces who continue to perform at an elite level despite their age. James, 40, is still one of the NBA’s top players, while Henry, 31, remains one of the league’s premier running backs.
James has long maintained that he could have played in the NFL had he chosen that path—and some believe he would have been a force. Judging by his admiration for Henry, we might have gotten a glimpse of what LeBron the football player could’ve looked like.
