[Saba Sports News] LeBron James typically keeps a low profile this time of year, but his recent podcast with JJ Redick and mysterious social media activity have drawn attention. Fans noticed LeBron’s unusual unfollow spree on social media, sparking various theories.
He first unfollowed Ben Simmons, with no obvious personal connection, and then unfollowed former teammate Kendrick Perkins, who has been critical of LeBron’s behavior recently. Finally, he unfollowed Blake Griffin, leaving fans puzzled about his motives.
LeBron, 39, is not known for being petty on social media but isn’t above severing ties with those he finds disagreeable, similar to his strategy with FOX reporter Skip Bayless. Perkins, who recently criticized LeBron for trying to steal the spotlight from the NBA Finals, was speculated by some fans to be silenced by this move.
“Here we go again, Bron weaseling his way into somebody else’s moment,” Perkins said. “This is not about you! Your team is at home. This is about the Mavs and the Celtics, but yet you’re so mad and disappointed that you’re not Kyrie Irving’s running mate anymore. Here we go again.”
Now, LeBron won’t see Perkins’ controversial opinions as he navigates the final chapter of his career. The reasons for unfollowing the other names remain unclear, possibly a spur-of-the-moment decision. With a coaching search underway and a decision about his player option next season, LeBron aims to minimize distractions and focus on the path ahead.
