[Saba Sports News] Recently, Liverpool Football Club, together with local authorities, police, and the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, urged fans to prioritize safety during celebrations, especially protecting children from firework-related injuries. Liverpool’s Premier League champions’ parade will take place on May 26th, starting at 2:30 PM, following the same route as the 2022 victory parade. Recently, the use of fireworks (including signal flares, smoke bombs, and fireworks) has increased. Following Liverpool securing their 20th league title, nearly 50 burn cases were reported outside Anfield, with the youngest victim being only three years old. The Alder Hey Children’s Hospital had to treat several children in its emergency department due to firework injuries, including burns caused by direct contact with fireworks and those caused by fireworks falling onto faces or scalps. Notably, fireworks can reach temperatures between 700 to 2500 degrees Celsius when burning, which not only causes burns upon direct contact but can also inflict harm at close range. Signal flares, in particular, may adhere to the skin when burning. In addition to high temperatures, fireworks produce large amounts of smoke, which can worsen existing respiratory conditions and irritate eyes. Furthermore, safety distance information is usually printed on fireworks packaging, clearly stating that they should not be used in crowded places or near others.
