[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Liverpool Women’s goalkeeper Rafaela Borggrafe is under investigation for allegedly using racist language during the pre-season training camp and consequently missed the first match of the new season. It is reported that the English Football Association (FA) is investigating Borggrafe following allegations that she used discriminatory language of a racial nature during pre-season. Liverpool is understood to have acted swiftly, followed the relevant procedures, conducted a thorough internal investigation, and referred the matter to the FA. A Liverpool spokesperson stated: “Liverpool Football Club is aware of an allegation involving a Women’s team player regarding the use of discriminatory language. The club has fully followed the process and referred the incident to the FA, who are investigating with our full support. We condemn all forms of discrimination; it has no place in football or society. We cannot make any further comment while the investigation is ongoing.” FA Rule E3 prohibits footballers from engaging in improper conduct that brings the game into disrepute, or using threatening, abusive, indecent, or insulting words or behaviour. If Borggrafe is found to have breached the rules, potential sanctions include a suspension, fine, or mandatory attendance at an education course.
