[Saba Sports News] Recently, former Brazilian defender Lucio (Lucimar Ferreira da Silva) recalled the experience of being burned four months ago in a media interview. Lucio said: “Everything happened so suddenly. I was having dinner at a friend’s house, shortly after celebrating my 47th birthday on May 8th. The fireplace had gone out, and unfortunately, a friend tried to relight it by pouring a bucket of alcohol into it, which caused an explosion. I just remember the flames hitting my face, arms, and legs. My wife was not injured. I immediately jumped into the swimming pool. On May 21st, I was transferred from Brasilia to Rio Grande do Sul. I still clearly remember the days when it was difficult to sleep due to the pain. I had never stayed in a hospital for so long. Surgery was necessary to remove necrotic tissue and for special treatment. This incident reminds us how important it is to take care of ourselves and others. I went through some things I never imagined, but I learned that sometimes just a little attention and a clear-headed small action can avoid tragedy. Protecting yourself is really worth it. Burns are a very difficult injury to face, both physically and psychologically. I am still undergoing skin treatment; it’s a long process, but I am getting better little by little.”
