[Saba Sports News] Previously, the 2025 Korea Badminton Masters concluded the first-round matches in men’s singles, women’s singles, and mixed doubles. After all first-round matches across five categories, the Malaysian team’s performance was quite dismal, with both men’s and women’s singles players collectively exiting in the first round. While two pairs from each of the three doubles categories advanced to the round of 16, judging from the draw, the mixed doubles independents Jimmy Wong and Lai Pei Jing might ultimately be relied upon to save face. In men’s singles, all four Malaysian players were eliminated in the first round. Currently, with Lee Zii Jia and Leong Jun Hao affected by injuries, Malaysia’s overall strength is not what it used to be. The succeeding players like Justin Hoh, Aidil Sholeh, and Eogene Ewe have been competing in lower-level events. As for Cheam June Wei, he seems to only exert himself in the Lin Dan Cup, while merely going through the motions in tour events to maintain his ranking. In women’s singles, the three Malaysian players – Goh Jin Wei, Wong Ling Ching, and Siti Zulaikha – also collectively stopped at the first round.
