[Saba Sports News] Due to reports that the Badminton Association of Malaysia may not renew contracts with several coaches whose contracts expire at the end of this year, the English media “New Straits Times” has specifically reported that based on the advertisement published by the Malaysian Badminton Association in May to recruit a men’s singles coach, it seems unlikely that the current Indonesian head coach Hendrawan will be renewed. He has been with the Malaysian Badminton Association since 2009. Another coach unlikely to be renewed is Raymond Chung, who has served in the Malaysian national team for 22 years and was the coach of Malaysian badminton star Lee Chong Wei, guiding him to win a men’s singles silver medal at the Rio Olympics. There are several popular candidates for the next men’s singles head coach of the Malaysian national badminton team, including the current head coach of the Danish national team, Kenneth Jonassen. Earlier this month, Jonassen personally confirmed that he would step down from his position as head coach of the Danish badminton national team at the end of this year. The 50-year-old Jonassen has coached the Danish national team for 11 years, including 8 years as head coach, making him the longest-serving and most successful national team coach in Denmark.
