[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Manchester United will hold an employee meeting on February 24 to discuss media reports regarding further layoffs at the club. James Ratcliffe’s new layoff plan, which could involve up to 200 positions, is expected to be included on the agenda. All Manchester United employees received an email notification on Friday evening about a team briefing scheduled for February 24 at 2:30 PM local time. Previously, it was reported that Ratcliffe would initiate a second round of layoffs, potentially affecting up to 200 employees, following the previous layoffs of 250 during the summer and fall. Ratcliffe is implementing layoffs and other cost-cutting measures to avoid bankruptcy after the club incurred losses of £300 million over the past three years. The email stated, “We are aware of media reports this week regarding certain issues related to the club, and we understand this has caused concern among everyone. As for the content of the reports, we currently do not have further information to share. However, we will hold a team briefing on February 24 at 2:30 PM to communicate further with everyone. Manchester United must explore various options, including cost reduction and revenue enhancement, which will not come as a surprise to anyone. No final decisions have been made yet.”
