[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Manchester United legend Michael Carrick has found a new job; he will be working as a commentator for Amazon Prime. Three months after stepping down as manager of Middlesbrough, Carrick will become a commentator for the Amazon Prime platform. The 44-year-old former England midfielder will make his debut during the Champions League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Villarreal. Carrick’s new chapter as a commentator begins after his turbulent managerial career at Middlesbrough. He took over from Chris Wilder as Middlesbrough manager in October 2022, initially showing positive results by leading the team to the promotion playoffs in the 2022-23 season. Fans had hoped the Manchester United legend could lead the team back to the Premier League, but the team failed to finish in the top six in the subsequent two seasons. In June 2025, Carrick’s tenure as Middlesbrough manager ended prematurely due to inconsistent results. Although the decision was surprising, Middlesbrough’s hierarchy believed changes were necessary to restart their promotion plan. Carrick had a glorious 12-year spell at Manchester United, winning 5 Premier League titles, 3 League Cups, and the 2008 Champions League trophy. After retiring in 2018, Carrick took up a coaching role at Manchester United. Following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s dismissal in 2021, Carrick’s brief stint as caretaker manager became a highlight of his coaching career, where he led the team to victories against Villarreal and Arsenal.
